Paul Butero serves as our Executive Chairman and interim CEO. Prior to joining Laney, Paul was the President / CEO of Nine Energy Service, a SCF Partners OFS portfolio company focused on the completion phase of resource development. Paul also enjoyed over 32 years with Baker Hughes Incorporated lastly serving as President of US Land Operations, Baker’s largest and most dynamic geomarket.  He also served as President of Hughes Christensen Company (drill bits), President of Baker Atlas (wireline), and President of Baker Hughes Inteq (drilling systems). He also held a Vice President role in operations, sales and marketing as well as a number of operational management positions both domestically and internationally.  Paul received his B.A. in Geography from the University of Colorado in Boulder.
Jim Katosic serves as our Chief Financial Officer and Secretary and manages all financial and administrative functions. He brings 35 years of global oilfield experience in both operational and financial management to the Laney team. Jim spent the first 23 years of his career with several divisions at Baker Hughes in both domestic and international assignments living and working on 4 continents in financial and operational positons. Subsequent assignments within the upstream oil & gas industry include the Corporate Controller at Hydril, Chief Accounting Officer at Trico Marine, Chief Financial Officer of Lone Star Fasteners, Chief Accounting Officer at Logan International, and Chief Financial Officer at W-Technology Link.
Brian P. Carpenter serves as our Corporate Health, Safety & Environmental Director managing all safety and compliance related functions. He brings over 20 years of service company related experience in Operations, HSE and Risk management to the Laney team. Brian spent the first 9 years of his career serving in the United States Coast Guard and subsequently served in roles at L&L Oil and Gas Services of ER/Compliance officer from 1997 to 2000 and Vice President, General Manager from 2000 to 2012. He brings a strong background in Environmental Emergency Response having been the Senior Project Manager on responses of National Significance such as the Hurricane Isaac project in 2012. At Laney he is responsible for fostering a safely operating, healthy and environmental conscious team toward the goal of zero incidents.
