TODD MILLER | Chief Executive Officer and President

Miller leads Laney at the highest level by providing the Vision and Direction across its Construction and Engineering divisions.  Miller is committed to Laney being the industry leader in the trenchless technology industry and advancing its cause.  Miller is tenured in civil construction, international business and finance, complex business operations including turnarounds and restructurings. Miller previously served in a variety of roles for Wolfcreek Energy Group from 2014 to 2017, including President of its trenchless construction company, Strata Underground. Miller has over 20 years of international experience in the financial services industry, where he held senior leadership positions with Morgan Stanley, UBS and JP Morgan Chase. He began his career in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand.  Miller received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Texas A&M University.

JIM KATOSIC | Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer

Katosic manages all financial and administrative functions as well as the risks associated with Compliance continue to increase as legal and regulatory oversight continues to expand and evolve. He is responsible for Laney’s Financial Reporting & Accounting, Taxes, Audit, Payroll and Compliance. Katosic brings 35 years of global oilfield experience in both operational and financial management to the Laney team. He spent the first 23 years of his career with several divisions at Baker Hughes in both domestic and international assignments living and working on 4 continents in financial and operational positons. Subsequent assignments within the upstream oil & gas industry include the Corporate Controller at Hydril, Chief Accounting Officer at Trico Marine, Chief Financial Officer of Lone Star Fasteners, Chief Accounting Officer at Logan International, and Chief Financial Officer at W-Technology Link. Katosic received his B.B.A. in Accounting from Kent State University and his MBA from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Jim is a licensed CPA in the state of Texas.

JAMES (JIM) B. NELSON | Vice President of Operations – Horizontal Directional Drilling

Nelson has extensive experience in trenchless construction including risk identification and mitigation through planning, commercial and contractual analysis, project execution and project cost control. He emphasizes the need to maintain lines of communication with project stakeholders, internally and externally and possesses a long track-record in having successfully managed complex, integrated construction projects involving marine construction, Horizontal Directional Drilling and other construction techniques both domestically and internationally. Nelson understands the process of securing contracts and executing projects from executive and manager levels as well as possesses an advanced technological knowledge of Horizontal Directional Drill design and manufacturing, tooling and casing applications, and fluid program design and implementation both on land and for offshore marine applications. Nelson received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Lamar University as well as a M.S. in Safety Engineering from Texas A & M University.

ROB HOTZ P.E. | Vice President of Operations – Direct Pipe® and Engineering

Hotz has over 12 years’ experience in the trenchless industry in both pipeline engineering and construction services and is a licensed Professional Engineer in 10 states. Hotz’ has specialized training and experience including, but not limited to, Surface and Subsurface Route Assessment, Analysis of Operating and Installation Stresses, Horizontal/l Directional Drilling and Direct Pipe® Profile Design, Determination of Minimum Allowable Pipe Radius of Curvature and Evaluation of Pipe Buoyancy and Potential Pull Loads. In addition, Hotz has vast international experience including Central America, Canada and Africa. Hotz received his B.S. in Civil Engineering as well as M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering from the Missouri Institute of Science and Technology. Hotz is a member of the Horizontal Directional Drilling Committee for the Distribution Contractors of America and has extensive experience working with USACE to develop standards for Direct Pipe® installations under environmentally sensitive levees.
